„As soon as music was in the air, melodies and rhythyms of all styles, Zazous eyes lit up like stars ans she started to dance, regardless of where she was“. Her mother Samira Mall-Darby has a smile on her face as she recollects Zazous toddler years.

And this joy for music and dance is still a very important part of her life, a real viru so to speak. Zazou was raised in an environment of music and the arts. The talent for music is a family affair. Her Father is a swiss saxofonist and professor for Music at the University of the Arts in Zürich and her mother is an african american singer and former dancer and teaches Jazz vocals.There was always music being played at home. So it is only natural that Zazou chooses music and dance as her profession.

After graduating from the Dance Theater School in Zürich with diploma, Zazou decides to go to New York City for a year to study at STEPS on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. She earned her living by doing some part-time modeling. Because she was doing so well at the school, she was advised by some of her teachers to audition for major productions such as The Lion King, Dreamgirls or Mama Mia. Even though she didn’t get the chance to perform in these productions she was always in the last group of 8 which is lready an honourable position to be in, against all of the proffessionals in New York! Of course she didn’t let that dampen her will, and Zazou wouldn’t be Zazou if she didn’t keep it rollin’! On the contrary she had seen and experienced what hard work and discipline can bring. Even though she took on work work as a salesperson(for which she also studied) including Abercrombie and Fitch and others, or teaching dance classes for children, she didn’t give up her dream of performing on stage. „ I have seen and have been impressed by the Stages on Broadway in New York, and I knew then, this is what I wan’t to do“ she says with a gleem in her eyes. This young woman knows what she wants and what she lives for!

„Deutschland sucht den Superstar“ the German version of American Idol, was another stepping stone for Zazou. She has become a popular person through performing on this show, and making it to the last round, and of course she will use this popularity to her advantage. When asked about her future, the fire returns in her eyes, andshe says“ I would like to have an international career with my music“. She knows what she wants!

As far as the style of music goes, says Zazou direct, Pop Music. Just like her musical Idol Michael Jackson she would lalso love to bring people together und the Umbrella of Music. For anyone who has seen this 26 year old ball of Energy perform, has no doubts that she will do exactly that!
